Crazy Cake recipe

Crazy Cake.

This recipe also goes by the name of ‘WackyCake’. Research tells us this very moist chocolate cake recipewas developed sometime in the 1940’s and was quite popular dueto it not having eggs, butter or milk and mixing it all in thepan. A very moist, easy-to-prepare chocolate cake that goes greatwith a cold glass of milk!

Recipe: Crazy Cake

3 cups cake flour, sifted
2 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup NESTL ® TOLL HOUSE® Baking Cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons white vinegar
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups cold water
Powdered sugar

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Combine cake flour, sugar, cocoa, bakingsoda and salt in ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Make 3 holesin mixture. Into the first hole, pour the vanilla extract, intothe second hole, the vinegar and into the third hole, the vegetableoil. Pour cold water over all. Mix with fork or wire whisk untilwell blended; do not overbeat. Mixture may contain some smalllumps.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until woodenpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in panon wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar.
