Cottage Bread Sticks recipe

Split and hollowed-out bread sticks arefilled with a herb-seasoned cream cheese mixture, brushed withmelted butter and baked until hot.

Recipe: Cottage Bread Sticks

1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups (8 ounces) large curd cottage cheese
1 tablespoon anchovy paste
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons finely chopped chives
2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
1 tablespoon finely chopped capers
1 tablespoon crushed caraway seed
1 tablespoon paprika
Freshly ground black pepper
12 soft bread sticks
3 tablespoons melted butter
Caraway seed

  • Split bread sticks horizontally and removesoft insides.
  • Combine cream cheese, cottage cheese,anchovy paste and mustard in a bowl using an electric mixer.Stir in chives, parsley, capers, caraway seed, paprika, saltand pepper.
  • Generously spread filling inside eachbread stick.
  • Place bread sticks on baking sheet. Brushwith melted butter. Sprinkle with caraway seed.
  • Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 7 minutes.Serve hot.

    Thank you for this recipe! My kids love frozen french toast sticks, but I cringe at the thought of all the preservatives that are in them. If I can make something healthier, than I will! I know they will be happy to help me make these. Hey Amanda! These are not supposed to be crunchy, rather soft but still firm. The only thing I can think of is if your bread was maybe too thin? That could cause them to be too soft!
