Confetti Brownies recipe

This recipe turns an ordinary box of browniemix into fun, festive brownies using a creamy homemade chocolatefrosting sprinkled with miniature candy-coated chocolates anda decorative drizzle of white icing.

Recipe: Confetti Brownies

1 (19.8 ounce) package fudge brownie mix
1 1/2 cups miniature candy-coated chocolates – divided use
Chocolate Frosting:1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
6 tablespoons hot water
White Chocolate Drizzle:3 tablespoons white chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vegetable shortening

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasebottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Prepare brownie mix as directed on packagefor fudge-like brownies. Spread half of brownie batter into preparedpan.
  • Sprinkle 3/4 cup candy-coated chocolatesover batter. Carefully spread remaining batter over candy-coatedchocolates.
  • Bake 28 to 30 minutes or until woodenpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from ovento wire rack; cool slightly.
  • Prepare Chocolate Frosting: Melt butterin a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat; add cocoa stirringuntil smooth. Add vanilla and salt.Gradually add powdered sugar with hot water, stirring until smooth.Spread over brownie.
  • Sprinkle 3/4 cup candy-coated chocolatesover frosting and gently press candies down into frosting.
  • Prepare White Chocolate Drizzle: Placewhite chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safebowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 30 seconds; stir. If necessary,microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirringafter each heating, just until chips are melted and mixture issmooth. Drizzle over candy-coated chocolates. Cool completelyin pan.

    Makes 12 brownies.

    These look so fun! I would probably make them with a regular blondie recipe and just throw in a TON of sprinkles and white chocolate chips. They re so bright and pretty! Can you believe I ve never made cake batter anything? I know my kids and hubby would love your brownies. It s time I get with the program!!!!
