Chunky Macadamia Squares recipe

Macadamia and chocolate chip dessert squareswith a vanilla glaze.

Recipe: Chunky MacadamiaSquares

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 (12-ounce package) semisweet or milk chocolate chips – divideduse
3/4 cup coarsely chopped macadamia nuts
Vanilla Glaze:1 cup powdered sugar2 tablespoons milk1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Heat oven to 375°F (175°C).
  • Beat butter, brown sugar and granulatedsugar in large bowl until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.Add flour and baking soda; blend well.
  • Stir in 1 cup chocolates and nuts; pressinto ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Sprinkle with remaining 1 cup chocolates.
  • Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until goldenbrown. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • For Vanilla Glaze: Combine powdered sugar,milk and vanilla in small bowl; stir until smooth.
  • Drizzle glaze over top; allow to set.Cut into bars.

    Makes about 24 bars.
