Christmas Candy recipe

Caramelized milk candy squares fleckedwith chopped candied fruit and nuts.

Recipe: Christmas Candy

2/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped candied fruit
1/2 cup chopped nuts

  • Place butter in a microwave-safe bowland microwave on HIGH for 1 minute. Blend in sugar and sweetenedcondensed milk. Microwave on HIGH for 8 to 9 minutes, stirringevery 2 minutes, or until the mixture is a light caramel color.
  • Stir in vanilla and beat with a woodenspoon 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Fold in chopped candied fruit and choppednuts.
  • Pour into a lightly buttered 8-inch squarepan. Cool at room temperature before cutting.

    Makes 16 pieces.
