Chocolate Swirl Cookies recipe

Cream cheese cookies with swirls of semisweetchocolate marbled throughout.

Recipe: Chocolate Swirl Cookies

1/2 cup granulated sugar1/2 cup packed brown sugar1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened1 (3-ounce) package of cream cheese1 large egg1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon salt1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, meltedand cooled

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In large mixing bowl, combine sugars,butter, cream cheese, egg and vanilla. Beat at mediumspeed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add flour, baking powder and salt.Beat at low speed until soft dough forms.Fold melted chips into dough until lightlymarbled. (Do not over mix.)
  • Drop dough by tablespoonfuls 2-inchesapart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 10to 12 minutes, or until edges are light golden brown. Transferto wire racks and cool completely beforestoring.

    Makes 4 dozen.

    I have a  chocolate cookie recipe  on my website that uses a combination of melted chocolate and unsweetened cocoa powder.  That chocolate cookie recipe was adapted from  Cooks Illustrated .  They taste like brownie cookies, but are a little time consuming and messy to make.  You ll dirty a lot of dishes, but trust me the taste is worth it.


    For when you can t choose between a peanut butter cookie and a chocolate cookie. Now enjoy them together!
