Chocolate Streusel Bars recipe

Chocolate streusel-topped cookie bars witha creamy cheesecake filling.

Recipe: Chocolate StreuselBars

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1 cup cold butter or margarine
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, powderedsugar, and unsweetened baking cocoa. Cut in cold butteruntil crumbly; reserve 2 cups of the mixture. Press the remainderonto the bottom of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, sweetenedcondensed milk, egg, and vanilla until fluffy. Pour over theprepared crust.
  • Combine chopped walnuts with the reservedcrumb mixture. Sprinkle over the cream cheese layer.
  • Bake for 25 minutes. Cool before cuttinginto bars.

    Makes 24 bars.

    Your first paragraph is spot on Renee, and anything with streusel makes me happy! Now, chocolate streusel that deserves a special mention, amazing! I totally get baking be a sport. I m not a competitive person, but baking certainly challenges me to constantly be improving in a way that sports never could. ?? These really look fabulous Renee! I m stumbling!
