Chocolate Pretzel Coconut Layer Bars.

For an afternoon snack, a potluck or afamily gathering, try these scrumptious cookie bars. They arechock full of pretzels, chocolate morsels, butterscotch morsels,coconut and pecans! Recipe created by Julie Hubbs of Greenfield,Minnesota.

Recipe: Chocolate PretzelCoconut Layer Bars

1 (18.25-ounce) package German chocolatecake mix1/2 cup crushed pretzels1/2 cup butter, melted1 large egg, slightly beaten1 cup (6 ounces) NESTL ® TOLLHOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels1 cup (6 ounces) NESTL ® TOLLHOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels1 cup sweetened flaked coconut1 cup chopped pecans1 (14-ounce) can NESTL ® CARNATION®Sweetened Condensed Milk

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF (175ºC).Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • Combine cake mix, pretzels, butter andegg in large bowl; stir until well mixed. Press pretzel mixtureinto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until crust puffsand appears dry. Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 minutes.
  • Layer semi-sweet morsels, butterscotchmorsels, coconut and nuts. Pour sweetened condensed milk overnuts.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until edges aregolden brown. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

    Makes 28 bars.

    The other day, I grabbed a quick coffee at local cafe, and from behind the glass in the pastry display, there were Seven Layer Bars staring at me. Looking  In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and butterscotch chips with the remaining ? cup of the sweetened condensed milk and the remaining ? cup of the coconut. Pour this over the last layer and then use your hands or a spoon to move it around so that it’s as even as possible.
