Chocolate-Coconut Mounds Bars.

Recipe: Chocolate-CoconutMounds Bars

First Layer:1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (about10 whole graham crackers)1/2 cup brown sugar, packed1/3 cup melted butterSecond Layer:2 2/3 cups flaked coconut1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensedmilkThird Layer:1 (12-ounce) package semi-sweet chocolatechips

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  • For First Layer: Mix graham cracker crumbsand brown sugar together in a medium mixing bowl; add meltedbutter and mix well (mixture will be crumbly). Place crumb mixturein a greased 9x13x2-inch baking pan and press firmly to formcrust (placing a sheet of waxed paper or plastic wrap on topwill help to press evenly and “cleanly”). Bake for15 minutes.
  • For Second Layer: In a medium mixing bowl,combine the coconut and milk. Carefully spread over the bakedcrust and return to oven to bake for 15 minutes.
  • For Third Layer: Remove from oven andsprinkle the top with the chocolate chips. Placepan back in the oven for 1 minute to help soften the chips andthen carefully spread the chocolate evenly over all.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature. Oncethe chocolate is set, cut into bars.

    Makes 24 servings.
