Recipe: Chocolate BBQ Just-For-FunCake
Cake:1 (18.25-ounce) package chocolate cakemix Grill Lines:1 cup peanut butter or butterscotch chocolatechips 1 1/2 teaspoons vegetable shortening “Hamburger Patties”:1/4 cup butter, softened2 cups powdered sugar1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder2 tablespoons milk1 teaspoon vanilla extract”Kabobs”:Fruit-shaped jelly candies or large gumdropsPlastic or wooden decorative skewers
Line the bottom of a 13 x 9 x 2-inch bakingpan with parchment or wax paper; grease and flour sides and bottom;set aside.
Prepare and bake cake according to packagedirections using prepared baking pan. Cool cake completely inpan on wire rack. Place serving platter over cake and carefullyinvert cake onto platter. Peel off paper. Cool completely beforedecorating.
For Grill Lines: Place desired flavorchips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwaveat HIGH (100%) 30 to 45 seconds or until mixture is melted whenstirred. Place mixture in a small reclosable plastic bag; cutoff tiny section of corner (or use a decorator’s tube and tip).Pipe mixture onto cake, forming grids like the top of grill.Allow “grids” to set before decorating with “Burgers”and “Shish-Kabobs”.
For “Hamburger Patties”: Inmedium bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, milk and vanillaextract until all ingredients are well mixed and has the consistencyneeded to form patties, adding additional milk or powdered sugarfor correct consistency. Form “patties”.
For “Kabobs”: Thread desiredcandies onto skewers to form “kabobs”.
