Choco-Maple Nut Bars recipe

These cookie bars have a crust layer sprinkledwith chocolate chips and then topped with a maple-flavored sweetenedcondensed milk and nut mixture and baked until set and golden.

Recipe: Choco-Maple Nut Bars

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
2 large eggs – divided use
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavoring
2 cups chopped nuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In large bowl, stir together flour, sugarand salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1 beaten egg.
  • Press mixture evenly onto bottom of ungreased13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake25 minutes.
  • In medium bowl, beat sweetened condensedmilk, remaining 1 egg and maple flavoring; stir in nuts. Setaside.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over preparedcrust.
  • Gently spread nut mixture evenly overchocolate.
  • Return to oven. Bake 25 minutes or untilgolden. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • Cut into bars. Store tightly covered atroom temperature.

    Makes 36 bars.

    You know I didn t serve any nuts but we do love them around our house but it is just something I don t often buy unless we are having a party or something. I love that there is maple in these bars! I m willing to bet you have at least one party you re going to in the next few weeks, plus one you re hosting. And that s not including your kids class parties, your family showing up at your house on Christmas Eve, and all the cookie platters you have to make am I right?
