Sweet and chewy and full of home-bakedgoodness.
Recipe: Chewy Oatmeal Cookies
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Lightly grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, beat brown sugar, shorteningand butter until smooth Add milk, egg and vanilla and stir untilwell combined; set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix together oats, flour,baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Stir into wet ingredients untilthoroughly mixed. Blend in raisins and walnuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto preparedcookie sheets and bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.Cool slightly before removing cookies from sheets to wire rack.
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup milk
1 large egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
Makes 36 cookies.
