Cheesy Cheddar Soup recipe

Your family will love this easy, cheesycheddar cheese soup.

Recipe: Cheesy Cheddar Soup

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk
3 cups chicken broth or 2 (10 3/4-ounce) cans condensed chickenbroth
3 cups half-and-half
4 cups (16 ounces) finely shredded Wisconsin Sharp Cheddar cheese
Dash cayenne pepper

  • Saut onion in butter over mediumheat. Blend together flour and milk. Gradually stir into onionand cook for 1 minute.
  • Add chicken broth and half-and-half. Heatto boiling.
  • Gradually add cheese, stirring constantly,until melted.
  • Stir in cayenne pepper.
  • Serve hot.

    Makes 8 servings.

    Hi there.. fall is in the air here in wisconsin. Football season has began and the leaves are getting ready to go. This soup was a perfect fit today. I followed the recipe , but used reduced fat options and omitted the nutmeg. This is divine and thank you for the recipe. I ll be making it again for sure!!!! I ll also be stalking the rest of your blog..just found you!! Hi, I m wondering if anyone has tried to freeze this soup and if it kept it s flavor and texture when reheating? This would be nice to have on hand and reheat whenever the craving comes! Thanks!
