Cheddar Apple Pie recipe

Apple pie without cheese is like a kisswithout a squeeze!

Recipe: Cheddar Apple Pie

1 package pie crust mix (2 crusts)
2 cups (8 ounces) Wisconsin cheddar cheese, shredded – divideduse
3 pounds cooking apples, sliced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter

  • Prepare one pie crust (1/2 package) accordingto package directions. Work 1 cup of the cheddar cheese intocrust. Roll dough and line pie plate. Place apples in pastry-linedplate, sprinkling flour and nutmeg evenly throughout.
  • To prepare topping, combine remainingpackage of the pie crust mix, sugar and cinnamon. Thoroughlycut in 3 tablespoons butter. Cover apples with half of topping.Sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese and top with remaining topping.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about40 minutes or until apples are tender.

    Makes 6 servings.
