Butterscotch Clusters recipe

Sweet butterscotch candy-coated clustersof crunchy chow mein noodles, roasted peanuts, miniature marshmallowsand coconut.

Recipe: Butterscotch Clusters

3 (6-ounce) packages butterscotch chips1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk1 (3-ounce) can chow mein noodles1 cup dry roasted peanuts or wholeroasted almonds1 cup flaked coconut (optional)2 cups miniature marshmallows (optional)

  • In large saucepan, over low heat, meltchips with sweetened condensed milk. Removefrom heat.*
  • In large mixing bowl, combine noodles,nuts, coconut and marshmallows; stir inthe butterscotch mixture, mixing well.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper-linedbaking sheets; chill 2 hours or untilfirm. Store, covered, in cool dry place.

    Makes about 3 dozen candies.

    *Microwavedirections: In 2 quart glass measure, combine chips and sweetenedcondensed milk. Microwave on high for 3 minutes,stirring after 1 1/2 minutes. Stiruntil smooth. Proceed as above.

    Variation: For Chocolate Haystacks,substitute 1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolatechips for the 3 (6-ounce) packages of butterscotch chips.
