Big Soft Molasses Cookies recipe

Big, soft and chewy molasses cookies, anold-time cookie that never goes out of style.

Recipe: Big Soft MolassesCookies

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon ground cinnamon1 teaspoon ground allspice1 teaspoon ground ginger1 1/2 cups granulated sugar1/2 cup vegetable shortening3 large eggs1/2 cup molasses1 1/2 cups raisins

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Lightly grease baking sheets.
  • In medium bowl combine flour, baking soda,cinnamon, allspice and ginger; setaside.
  • With electric mixer, cream together thesugar, shortening, eggs and molasses. Stir in the flour mixtureuntil just mixed. Add the raisins and stir to combine.
  • Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto preparedbaking sheets.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer towire racks to cool. Store in tightlysealed container.

    Makes 3 dozen.
