Bavarian Apple Torte recipe

A buttery pastry crust is spread with alayer of sweetened vanilla cream cheese and topped with a layerof tender cinnamon-kissed apple slices.

Recipe: Bavarian Apple Torte

Crust:3/4 cup butter, softened1/2 cup granulated sugar1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour1/2 teaspoon vanilla extractFilling:2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened1/4 cup granulated sugar2 large eggs3/4 teaspoon vanilla extractTopping:3 cups thinly sliced, peeled, tart apples1/2 cup granulated sugar1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Combine ingredients for crust and pressonto the bottom of an ungreased 9-inch springformpan.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese andsugar; add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Pourover the crust.
  • Combine topping ingredients and spoonover filling. Place pan on a foil-lined baking sheetto prevent drips.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 55 to60 minutes or until the center is set and apples are tender. Cool completely on a wire rack before releasingsides of pan.
  • Store in the refrigerator.

    Makes 12 servings.

    I made this torte tonight for a birthday party and everyone loved it and asked for the recipe .I think apple pie is a little boring but this was delicious with the cream cheese layer and buttery crust. Thanks for the recipe!
