Baked Harvest Apples recipe

These hearty apples are baked in a cinnamon-brownsugar and apple juice syrup, and then stuffed with a bountifulmixture of shredded cheddar cheese, chopped dates or raisinsand toasted nuts.

Recipe: Baked Harvest Apples

8 medium baking apples
1 cup apple juice
1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped dates or raisins
1/4 cup nuts, toasted*

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Core apples to within 1/2-inch of theirbottoms; pierce the skins with a sharp knife. Place apples inshallow baking dish.
  • Combine juice, sugar and cinnamon; pourover apples.
  • In a small bowl, combine cheese, datesand nuts; set aside.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until applesare tender, basting occasionally with the juice mixture. Removeapples from oven.
  • Spoon cheese mixture evenly into centersof apples. Let stand 1 minute to allow cheese to melt.

    Makes 8 servings.

    *To toast nuts, place in a shallow bakingpan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 15 minutes or untilnuts are lightly browned, stirring occasionally. Cool.

    Whoa! Nice to know that they turned out great baked too! I will look at the recipe and make I wrote everything correctly though. So happy you loved them, but sorry for the trouble! Can you use instant yeast? And you don t say wether or not its light brown sugar or dark brown sugar. Would like to make these, directions are not clear, thankyou
