Grated Abuelita chocolate give these festivecookies a tasty south-of-the-border flair.

Recipe: Abuelita Powder Cookies

3 cups all-purpose flour2 1/4 cups powdered sugar – divided use3 tablets (90 g each) NESTL ABUELITAChocolate, grated2 cups vegetable shortening1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix flour, 2 cups powdered sugar and Abuelitain medium bowl. Place shortening in large mixer bowl; beat atmedium speed, adding flour mixture gradually until combined.Add vanilla extract; beat until combined. Freeze for 7 to 10minutes.
  • Shape 1 tablespoon dough into ball; repeatwith remaining dough. Place balls 1-inch apart on ungreased bakingsheets and press lightly to flatten.
  • Bake for 16 to 18 minutes. Cool on bakingsheets for 1 minute; remove to wire racks to cool completely.Dust with remaining 1/4 cup powdered sugar.

    Makes 6 dozen cookies.
