Recipe: 60 Minute DinnerRolls

2 tablespoons active dry yeast1 teaspoon granulated sugar1/2 cup warm water1 cup milk4 tablespoons vegetable shortening3 tablespoon granulated sugar2 teaspoon salt1 large egg4 1/2 cups bread or all-purposeflour

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoonsugar, then set aside.
  • Heat milk, shortening, 3 tablespoon sugarand salt. Cool to luke warm and combinewith dissolved yeast. Add egg and then flour. Mixwell. Turn on to a floured board, cover and letstand for 10 minutes. Knead until smooth, thenform into balls and place in well-greased pans.Let rise for 60 minutes.
  • Bake at 400°F (205°C) until done,about 20 minutes.

    Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.
